About
our Shops
St Wilfrid’s
Hospice currently operates a number of shops in the catchment
area that spreads from Emsworth (Hampshire) across to Arundel
(West Sussex) and up to the South Downs.
Our shops are totally dependent on donations to continue to
raise funds in support of the Hospice.
In addition to operating four ‘traditional’ style
shops in Barnham, Bognor Regis, Chichester and Selsey selling
donated clothing and bric-a-brac, we have a Dress Agency in
Chichester, furniture shops in Bognor Regis, Chichester and
Southbourne and donations centre in Chichester. We also advocate
the recycling of newspapers and magazines and are involved
in the recycling of unwanted and broken electrical goods.
In
a sentence, IF YOU DON'T WANT IT, WE CAN USE IT!
We operate a collection and delivery service which is mainly used for larger donations and furniture and is controlled by our furniture shop managers.
The ‘traditional’ shops sell all sorts of items
but mainly clothing, bric-a-brac, books and household goods.
The Dress Agency operates on a commission basis, and sells
new and nearly new ladies fashions. The furniture shops sell
quality pre-loved furniture and furnishings, electrical goods
and even furniture with electrical elements such as built-in
lighting which are safety tested.
We have a donations centre, where goods are cleaned and sorted
which is based in Summersdale Chichester. It has direct vehicle
access, so if you have items you wish to donate, simply drop
them off between the hours of 9.30am and 5.00pm Monday to
Saturday or phone either of our furniture shops to arrange
collection.
Every year our shops make a substantial contribution towards
the running costs of the Hospice, our contribution for the
last financial year ending 31 st March 2006 totalled £230,000.
As with most charitable organisations, we rely heavily on
the commitment of our volunteers, if you may be able to help
or would like details on becoming a volunteer please contact
Pauline Hilton on telephone 01243 775302, or pop into your
local shop and talk to the manager.
