There is a palliative care service at St Richard’s Hospital comprising several palliative care nurses who work closely with ward and other hospital staff.
The medical input is provided by consultants from St Wilfrid’s Hospice who undertake a weekly ward round at the hospital and support the palliative care team as needed.
There is frequent contact between hospice and hospital staff to ensure continuity of care and optimal symptom control.
