Hospital Support

There is a palliative care service at St Richard’s Hospital comprising several palliative care nurses who work closely with ward and other hospital staff.

The medical input is provided by consultants from St Wilfrid’s Hospice who do a weekly ward round at the hospital. They also hold joint clinics with cancer specialists and attend multidisciplinary group meetings discussing the management of all cancer patients.

There is frequent contact between hospice and hospital staff to ensure continuity of care and optimal symptom control.
