Education

St Wilfrid's Hospice Education Centre specialises in providing education for a multidisciplinary audience encompassing doctors, nurses, social workers and all therapists including complementary therapists. There are courses for those already working in palliative care as well as for those wishing to enter this field. There are also courses for patients and carers. Indeed, some of our regular  teachers are patients and carers. We offer courses ranging from degree level to one off study days on a variety of topics.

Education CentreWe have several modules of study validated by Winchester University; these include Optimising Health/Pain and Symptom Control, Psycho Social Care and Oncology. These modules run at Diploma and Degree level. Our Diploma in Palliative Care is validated through the University of Winchester.

Our Certificate in Generic Palliative Care requires attendance at study days held roughly every fortnight and also includes clinical placement days. This course looks at palliative care for patients with cancer as well as diseases other than cancer. It is popular with health care professionals from busy units. It carries the option of collecting Winchester University credits, subject to successful completion of the academic assessments, or the award of our in-house Certificate. It's your choice.
