Married to Jonathan, the couple have two adult children.

Do you have a connection with St Wilfrid's Hospice?

Having lived in West Sussex for over 20 years, I have always been aware of the work carried out at St Wilfrid’s. However, since chairing some local NHS Trusts, and more recently taking up the appointment of Lord-Lieutenant, I have become more closely linked with the organisation.

Why have you accepted the role of 25th Anniversary Patron for the Hospice?

I have always had enormous respect & admiration for the work and the support that hospices provide, indeed my own mother spent her final days in one. Their role in our troubled economic times takes on even greater significance. Accordingly, when I was approached to become a 25th Anniversary Patron for St Wilfrid’s, I had no hesitation in accepting.
