Dr
Rophina Yeld, a local GP from Chidham, is running
the London Marathon 2008 in aid of St Wilfrid's
Hospice, Chichester
. Her work
has included regular contact with the
hospice team and patients for several years. The
hospice provides invaluable support for patients
with cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, chronic lung
disease and other life limiting illnesses. Each
year over 500 patients and their families are
supported by St Wilfrid's. This vital service
is not part of the
NHS, relying on public support to raise 89% of
the annual running costs which total £4
million.
A
member of the Chichester Runners, Dr Yeld, trains
regularly cross country running, biking and circuit
training. This is the second time she will be
participating in the 26.2 mile London
marathon.
In 2004 the dedicated runner ran both marathons
in London
and New York
raising money
for Oxfam and the charity ‘Get Kids Going.' To
sponsor Dr Yeld log onto www.justgiving.com/ryeld

secure system for donating money.
Dr
Yeld comments:
‘The
hospice team is currently looking after a close
neighbour and friend of mine. The level of care
and professionalism is exceptional. Fundraising
is paramount to the continuation and development
of this very special service. I have pledged my
support, I hope others will follow.'
